Geoff's Reviews
Here's what some people have said about Aspects Of Power:
"Nothing..could have prepared anyone for the dynamic impact of one of the most remarkable and prodigiously multi-talented artists it has been my pleasure and privilege to see and hear...Geoff was all that was claimed for him, an excellent singer of soulful ballads.. A raconteur par excellence..We have been privileged to hear one of the best trumpeters in Oz..."
"...lyricism,beauty & subtle fire.." Murray Lavelle
"Geoff Power the talented Trumpet,Tuba, trombone and for that matter Piano player along with his backing group"The Queensland Connection"..produced a combined sound of traditional jazz that was refreshingly different and very infectious..standing room only crowd..a return performance would be most appropriate.."
"...immediately catches the ear for sheer originality of sound and clean execution" Graeme Bell,"Classic Jazz" review
Geoff Power is one of the rising stars of Oz Jazz... a most elegant cornet player...he excels also on tuba and trombone
A continuing joy - wonderful !
The music seems almost effortless, so relaxed in its flow, but that ease is the result of Power's, Wilson's and Williams' absolute mastery of their instruments... Power plays powerfully on Cornet Chop Suey, tasteful tuba on Sweet Sue and terrific trombone on This Could Be The Start Of Something Big
It sounds wonderful...so much great playing
Geoff Power, tuba player in the wonderful Cafe Society Orchestra among other aggregations steps into the spotlight with his cornet and trombone also under his arm, providing a fine set of classic jazz tunes in a piano-less sextet. And what a sextet !.....
